RESEARCH STUDY CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

PILOT STUDY CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The relationship between the mental health protective factors and mental illness of

parents and their adolescent children

This project is being undertaken as part of a Doctorate of Philosophy (Health) degree for Olivia Fisher.

Australian residents aged 14 – 17 years and their parents are invited to participate in this project

The purpose of this project is to investigate the relationship between the mental health protective factors and depression and anxiety symptoms of parents and their adolescent children.  The researchers are measuring mental health protective factors (sense of belonging, optimism, emotion regulation), the mental health spectrum (flourishing factors) and depressive and anxiety symptoms, and aim to develop a model of the interactions between these factors in parents and their adolescent children.

Getting Involved

Parents fill out this very brief survey http://survey.qut.edu.au/f/186725/1036/ then Olivia will email the participant information forms and links to the parent and adolescent surveys to the parent. The parent provides consent for their adolescent child/ren to participate by forwarding the link to them. Each family will receive links to the survey with an embedded, randomly generated, family identification number. This number is only used to link responses from family members and is not used for identification purposes.

Making a Difference

The findings from this project will support the researchers to develop a better understanding of the relationship between mental health protective factors and depression and anxiety symptoms in parents and their children, and will inform future research in this area, as well as future mental health promotion practices

Thankyou Competition

At the completion of the survey you will be given the opportunity to go into an optional prize draw to win one of three $100 Coles Myer vouchers or one of five $20 Coles Myer vouchers. The prize draw will open on 24.11.16 and close on 31.03.17.

Terms and Conditions are available in the participation information.
